PRAN Hierarchical Data model

• A data model in which the data are arranged in a tree-like form is called a hierarchical database model. The information is kept in records that are linked to one another by links. A record is a group of fields, each of which has a single value.
• When elements are connected to one another through parent-child connections inside a larger tree structure, the data structure is called hierarchical data. Think of data as a hierarchy of related family members, including grandparents, parents, children, and grandkids.
• In order to model longitudinal data, hierarchical models are a useful tool. One can design growth curve models to simultaneously evaluate the intracohort age changes and inter differences since repeated observations across time (level-1 units) can be seen as nested within individuals (level-2 units).
