Bismillah Khan is a very popular and courageous personality in the history of Indian classical music. he was born on 21 st March 1916. he belonged from a family of musicians. his grandfather was Rasull Bux Khan, father Paigambar Bux were well known artists. when he was 3 yes old his mother took him to his maternal uncle Ali Bux's house in Benaras. he took lessons from him. he used to play his shehenai in Mangla Maiya temple and on the bank of holy river Ganga. he invented new ragas. he also travelled abroad. his first tour was in Afghanistan. he was awarded with Padma Shri, Padma Bhushan, Padma Vibhushan and India's highest civilian award the Bharat Ratna. after a lot of suffering he died on 26 th August 2006.
