At least 267 different species have been affected by plastic pollution in the ocean. 100,000 marine animals are killed by plastic bags annually. One in three leatherback sea turtles have been found with plastic in their stomachs.

Water Pollution:

Typically, plastics in the oceans can degrade within a year but not completely. During this plastic degradation process, toxic chemicals like polystyrene and BPA can be released into the water [59] causing water pollution. Wastes found in the oceans are made up of approximately 80% plastics.
