m sure you’d have come across this line at some point in your life. Sound can be converted into a variety of forms. Sound is a wave and wave is an oscillation combined with the transmission of energy through a medium (space or mass).
What I’m trying to say is sound itself is energy, the source being the kinetic energy of oscillation that exists between the molecules of the medium.
Microphones convert sound energy into electrical energy using a special type of material known as piezoelectric. See here for the working. The diaphragm of the microphone is made up of such material.
One another example of converting sound energy is the human ear drums. Now due to the sound reaching our ear, the drum begins to vibrate (mechanical energy) which is further converted to electrical impulses carried by the nervous system to the brain for it to interpret.
Hope that helped.
