prove that 2+√5 is an irrational number

Hey!!
firstly we know that √5 is an irrational no.
let 2+√5 be rational be no.
then , 2 +√5 -2=√5
(rational -rational =rational)
so....
then √5 should be rational no a/c to this eq.
but we know that √5 is a irrational no.
so our contradict was wrong.
and 2+√5 is an irrational no.
