let , O=optic centre
f1 &f2 be pricipal focus obj AB is place beyond f2
f2 =image formed by it isbA¹B¹ beyond f2
frm similar tri.A1B1O nd ONf2
A1B1/ON =f2A1/OF2..............1 .
frm similar triangle A1B1 nd ABO
A1B1/AB =OA1/OA..................2
frm 1 and 2 equ.
F2A1/OF2=OA1/OA
now using sign convention
v-u/f =v/-u
on cross multi.
vf=-uv+uf
dividing both side by uvf
we get, 1/f=1/v-1/u
