She was the first Indian woman to win silver medal in 2016 Rio Olympics.
She learnt badminton at Pullela Gopichand’s badminton academy since the age of 8 years. She made her international debut in sub junior Asian badminton championship held in the year 2009. She also won a bronze medal in the same event.

Her latest achievement was winning a silver medal in the Rio Summer Olympics in 2016.

 She entered badminton at the age of eight and her first domestic debut was winning the 5th Servo All India ranking championship for under-10 category.

Her international debut appeared when she won a bronze medal at the 2009 Sub-Junior Asian Badminton Championships organized in Colombo.
