  2. With the help of diagrams, tabulate the differences between a shrub and a tree, based on the properties of the stem. More branches arise from the base of stem. The stem is hard and thin. The branches arise from the stem.
  3. The roots absorb water and minerals from the soil and the stem carries them to the leaves. The leaves prepare food. The food prepared in leaves is carried by the stem to all the parts of the plant, which includes roots. Some of the plants store food in their roots
  4. The fibrous root system occupies less surface area than taproot. Taproot grows vertically downwards and thus reaches deep into the soil. The fibrous root grows horizontally in all directions and thus doesn't reach deep into the soil. The Taproot system anchors the plant more firmly than the fibrous root.
  5. Petals are modified leaves that surround the reproductive parts of flowers. They are often brightly colored or unusually shaped to attract pollinators. The sepals are the lower, or outermost, part of the flower. They fold over the tender, closed bud and protect it from cold and other injuries while it is developing.
