Sun is the ultimate source of energy for Earth. All the organisms in the biosphere are divided into different levels of the food chain. The first level of the food chain is occupied by the producers. Producers absorb sun's energy and convert it into food by the process of photosynthesis.
Energy from producers is transferred to consumers. Consumers can be further divided into primary consumers, secondary consumers and tertiary consumers. Energy flow is from sunlight to producers, producers to primary consumers, primary consumers to secondary consumers and so on.

The in coming sun rays every morning are the reason for the life processes that are happening on earth. Every morning with rise of sun the sun rays passing through the atmosphere of the earth reach the plants which use this light energy to convert it into food.

Explanation:

  • The food from these plants is taken into by the other animals that are present on earth and further the animals who feed on those animals who take in plants use the energy of sun.
  • In this way hence the ultimate food chain is completed only when it starts with the sun.
  • Hence if there is no sun energy or light energy present there would be no life form present on earth.
