Once there was a little girl called Pihu, who despite being poor had no sorrows in life at all. She loved her parents and was very happy with whatever she had. There was a banana tree behind Pihu's house which she used to water every day. Even though there were days when she would be hungry and not have enough money to buy a meal, she would never forget to water the tree.
As usual, one day when Pihu was watering the tree, suddenly the tree started to shine brightly, and a beautiful figure appeared in front of her. To Pihu's astonishment, she introduced herself as Goddess Lakshmi. She was very impressed by Pihu's service to the tree every day and that is why she wanted to invite her to her palace. Pihu was overjoyed. She accepts the offer and goes with the goddess and enjoys her company. For her only devotion and sincerity matters. Show her your love and courtesy, she will surely bless us by visiting our poor house."

You should keep working hard, your fortune will shine one day." Just as the goddess had blessed them, in a matter of few years, Pihu's family condition improved. They were financially stable now, but they never forgot that it was all due to the goddess's blessing. Pihu continued to water the tree diligently.
