So, 3 + 2√5 = p/q

where, p and q are co prime.

3 + 2√5 = p/q

or, 2√5 = p/q + 3

or, 2√5 = p + 3q / q

or √5 = p + 3q / 2q

since p, q, 3 and 2 are all intergers do √5 is irrational.

This contradict the fact that √5 is irrational.

So, 3 + 2√5 is irrational.
