The mnemonic to remember the reactivity series of metal is : Please stop calling me a cute zebra, I like her call (me) smart goat. Please note that Carbon and Hydrogen are not metals but are included here as a base to which metal is more or less reactive than hydrogen and carbon.

The mnemonic for the reactivity series is -

Please Stop Calling Me A Careless Zebra Instead Try Learning How Copper Saves Gold.

Explanation

REACTIVITY SERIES -

  • The series of metals arranged in decreasing order of their reactivity.
  • The metals that show reactivity with acids, water, and steam are highly reactive in nature.
  • The least reactive does not show a chemical reaction.
  • Hydrogen and Carbon are placed in the series for the comparison basis to determine the chemical reactivity.
  • The metals that are placed above hydrogen can displace hydrogen on reaction with acids.
  • Mnemonics are the instrumental strategy to help students learn important information.
  • The elements in the mnemonics for the activity series are -

Potassium, Sodium, Calcium, Magnesium, Aluminium, Carbon, Zinc, Iron, Tin, Lead, Hydrogen, Copper, Silver, Gold.
