A nuclear force is a force which hold proton & neutron strongly inside a nucleus.
It's properties are :-
- It hold the neutron together which is strongest interaction .
- It is having a very less range of 2-3fm from neutron.
- It's potential energy changes with change in distance.
- The nuclear force does not depend on the charges. eg nn force, pp force, pn force .
- The binding energy is same for most mass number which shows saturation effect neutron interact thier nearby electron .
- Nuclear forces between antiparallel spin are weak but between parallel spins they are strong.
- Force arises between neutrons is due to the exchange of mesons (particles) .
- If neucleons are joined by the center, nuclear force does not act between them.
