The masses are at distance r , 2r,4r,8r and so on from point o( reference point ).

So , net gravitational field intensity at point o

= Gm [1/r^2 + 1/(2r)^2 + 1/(4r)^2 + ........]

=Gm/r^2 [ 1 + 1/4 + 1/16 +...........]

=Gm/r^2 [ 1 / {1-1/4} ] ( using geometric progression property )

=4Gm / 3r^2
