When Calcium oxide i.e. quick lime is added to water filled in a bucket, it reacts vigorously with water to produce slaked lime (calcium hydroxide) releasing a large amount of heat.

Reaction - 2CaO + 2H2O => 2Ca(OH)2 + Heat

Quick lime reacts with water to give Calcium Hydroxide.

 \\

Also,

The reaction can be reversed by heating Calcium Hydroxide to give Calcium Oxide ( Quick lime ) and water.

 \\

Reaction:

 \sf 2CaO_{(s)} + 2H_{2}O_{(l)} \longrightarrow 2Ca(OH)_{2 \: (s) }
