We have a copper wire of resistance R. This wire is pulled so that its length is doubled (temperature
remains constant). Find the new resistance of the wire in terms of its original resistance.
Why does resistance of metallic conductor increase with increase in temperature?
Differentiate between electrical resistance and specific resistance (resistivity) of a conductor.
What is Ammeter? Why should it have low resistance?
Four resistances 2 ohm of each are joined end to end to form a square ABCD. Calculate the
equivalent resistance of the combination between two adjacent comers.
Draw a schematic diagram of a circuit consisting of a battery of four cells of 2V each, a 4 ohm resistor, an
8 ohm resistor, and a 12 ohm resistor, ammeter and a plug key,all connected in series.
Calculate the resistance between A and B in the following networks :-

when the length of the conductor becomes doubled the resistance also become double. ie resistance will doubled .
So R becomes 2R.
when the temperature increases electron gets energy so they start vibrating in the conductor. therefore the flow of electrons means current get obstructed by this vibrating electrons. therefore resistance increases so we can say that resistance is directly proportional to the temperature of the conductor.
ammeter is device used to measure current flowing through the conductor.
resistances are connected at the corners of the square and you said that find the resistance between two adjacent corners so so in this circuit diagram three resistances having 2 ohm resistance total resistance 6 and this three resistances and one resistance of 2 Oham are in parallel so (1/6)+(1/2)=1/r
so r=(6×2)/(6+2)
=12/8
=6/4
=3/2
=1.5 ohm.
