Light in the general sense, Is the speed limit of universe. The photons which make up the light, travel at the speed of light. Though being the fastest, Photons, in this case from the sun, take time to hit the eye of the observer on earth.. As the distance between the Earth and the Sun is astronomical in figures.. it takes on average 8 minutes and 20 seconds.. for the light rays to initiate from the sun and to reach the observer.. so in this brief period of time.. The light hasn't reached your eyes.. and so you can't see the sun till the light rays reach your eye.
