Given that,

The acceleration a=8m/s²

Initial velocity u=0m/s

We know that,

The displacement in the nth second

=u+a(n−\frac{1}{2} )

Now, the displacement in 5th second

 =0+8(5−\frac{1}{2})

=36m

Hence, the distance covered by it in fifth second is 36 m.
