(1) In India coal deposits are found mainly of two geological ages : -

(a) Gondwana coal deposits , which are about 200 million years old . The major coal deposits in India are Gondwana coal which are metallurgical coal and are located in Damodar Valley ( west Bengal, Jharkhand ) . These constitute mainly Jharia, Dhanbad, Ranigunj and Bokaro coal fields . Besides , the Godavari, Mahanadi , Son and Wardha valley also contain coal deposits.

(b) Tertiary coal deposits which are around 55 million years old . Tertiary coal deposits are found in the North Eastern states of Assam , Arunachal Pradesh and Nagaland.

(2)Solar energy has bright future in India due to the following factors:

(a) Sufficient sunlight to sustain production of Solar energy as the number of sunny days across a large geographical portion of country is around 300.

(b) it requires less investment in infrastructure compared to other forms of energy ,thus it is cheaper to produce.

(c) it is non polluting source of energy.

(d)it can be utilised for ruler electrification and irrigation through solar powered water pumping system.

(e) it has very less disadvantages compared to others.

(f) by the use of solar system we can reduce the pollution to a gr8 extent.
