we know, concept of Morden periodic table
" chemical and physical properties of elements are periodic function of their atomic number."
also we know, elements belongs to same group have same chemical and physical properties due to elements of same group have same electronic configuration .
example :- for 16th group , General electronic configuration is ns², np⁴. hence, valance electrons for 16th group = 6 .
hence, valance electron in a group is constant for all elements . hence, all characters { physical and chemical } are same in a specific group.
so, elements in the same group have similar physical and chemical properties.
