Question 6 Consider the following figure of line. Say whether following statements are true or false in context of the given figure. (a) Q, M, O, N, P are points on the line. (b) M, O, N are points on a line segment. (c) M and N are end points of line segment. (d) O and N are end points of line segment. (e) M is one of the end points of line segment. (f) M is point on ray. (g) Ray is different from ray. (h) Ray is same as ray. (i) Ray is not opposite to ray. (j) O is not an initial point of. (k) N is the initial point of and.

Point:
A point is used to represent any specified location or position. Dots are used to the present points.

Line:

Two points determine a line. Line is breadthless & has length only. Line extend indefinitely in both directions.

Line segment:
The definite length between 2 points.it is the shortest distance between 2 points. A line segment has 2 end points .

Ray:
A ray is a portion of line. It starts at one point & goes endlessly in one direction.

Solution:

a) TRUE

Because M , O & N lie on the line MN & points Q & P lie on the extended segment of MN on both sides.

b) TRUE

Because points M , O & N lie on the line segment MN.

c) TRUE

Because M to N is the shortest distance of the line segment MN.

d) FALSE

Because it is clear from the figures that point N is between O and P.

e) FALSE

Because it is clear from the figure that point M is between Q and O.

f) FALSE

Because M is outside from ray OP.

g) TRUE

Because all the rays have their own origin.

h) FALSE

Because rays OP & OM are in opposite directions.

i) TRUE

Because from the figure it is clear that rays OM & OP are opposite.

j) FALSE.

Because from figure it is clear that point O is the initial point of OP.

k) TRUE

Because from figure it is clear that line segment NP & NM start from point N.
