Here are the answers:-

i) This sentence has been spoken two times in the play. Firstly, it was spoken by intruder when he says Gerrard his idea to kill him. Second time it was spoke by Gerrard while revealing his fictitious role (character)to the intruder.

ii) The surprise of intruder is his idea of killing Gerrard while surprise of Gerrard is his fictitious character.
