2..carbon compounds forms covalent bonds because it is tetravalent , it can neither gain or lose electrons, so it shrares them. -carbon compounds have low melting boiling point because in betweencarbon compounds covalent bonds areformed which is weaker bond.
3...a) Here X is ethanoic acid and its molecular formula is Ch3COOH
and when ethanoic acid us warmth with methanol is presence of conc. sulphuric acid the Y with sweet fragrance is formed .the compound formed is called methyl ethanoate and molecular formula is CH3 COOCH3

b) CH3COOH + C2H5OH in precence of conc.H2SO4 gives

CH3COOC2H5 +H2O
