According to the question,
Side of larger cube = 12cm
So, Volume of larger cube = (12)³
= 1728 cm³
So, the larger cube is cut into 8 small cubes.
Therefore,
Volume of larger cube = Volume of 8 small cubes
=> 8(side1)³ = 1728
=> (2 side1)³ = 1728
=> 2 side1 = 12
=> side of small cube = 6
Surface area of larger cube = 6(side)²
= 6(12)²
= 6×144
= 864 cm
Surface area of smaller cube = 6(side1)²
= 6(6)²
= 6×36
= 216
Ratio of surface area of larger cube to small cube;
=> Surface area of larger cube/surface area of smaller cube
=> 864/216
=> 4/1
=> 4:1 ......Ratio
