Raja got 76% marks and Seema got 480 marks in a test. The maximum marks of the test is equal to the marks obtained by Raja and Seema together. How many marks did Raja score in the test?

David01: You must say the percentage Seema got, the answer cannot be worked out.

Let maximum marks be = x
and raja got = y marks
now A/Q  y/x * 100 = 76
⇒  100y = 76x

and sum of raja and seema marks = max marks
 ⇒  y + 480 = x  ⇒  76x/100 + 480 = x ⇒ 76x + 48000 = 100x

⇒  48000 = 24x  ⇒ x = 2000

and raja got 2000 - 480 = 1520 marks.
