Let Mark is obtained by Shyam = x
∴ mark is obtained by Ram = x + 24

Also mark of Ram 65% of the sum of marks obtained by them.
∴ 65 % = Ram's mark/(Ram's mark + Shyam's mark) × 100
⇒65 = (x + 24)/(x + 24 + x) × 100
⇒65 = (x + 24)/(2x + 24) × 100
⇒13(2x + 24) = 20(x + 24)
⇒26x + 312 = 20x + 480
⇒26x - 20x = 480 - 312
⇒6x = 168
⇒x = 28

Hence, mark is obtained by Shyam = x = 28
Make is obtained by Ram = x + 24 = 28 + 24 = 52

The answer is given below :

Let us consider that Shyam secured x marks and Ram secured (x + 24) marks in the examination, according to the given question.

Now, sum of the marks, secured by both
= x + (x + 24)
= 2x + 24

Given that,

Marks secured by Ram = (Sum of the marks, secured by both) × 65%

⇒ (x + 24) = (2x + 24) × 65%

⇒ (x + 24) = (2x + 24) × 65/100

⇒ 100(x + 24) = 65(2x +24)

⇒ 100x + 2400 = 130x + 1560

⇒ 130x - 100x = 2400 - 1560

⇒ 30x = 840

⇒ x = 840/30

⇒ x = 28

So, the marks, secured by Shyam is 28 marks and the marks, secured by Ram = (28 + 24) = 52 marks.
