rationalise a denominator of this type, (ignoring for a moment the 2s cancel)

a) Multiply top and bottom by √3

b) then use the fact root √3 * √3=√9 = 3

so we get 2√3 / 2*3 = 2√3 / 6

Then 2/6 =1/3 so we get

√3 / 3

More generally a fraction of the form

a / b√c becomes a√c / b*c
