When a bullet is fired from a gun, the gun exerts a force on the bullet in the forward direction. This is force is called as the action force. The bullet also exerts an equal and opposite force on the gun in the backward direction. Therefore a gun recoils when a bullet is fired from it.

when a bullet is fired, a gun recoils in accordance with newton's third law because the gun powder which explodes pushes the bullet in forward direction.

________________________

newton's third law states that:- "to every action there is an equal ( in magnitude) and opposite ( in direction) reaction.

  • It also tells us about the existence of force in pairs , i.e , a single Isolated force doesn't exist in nature.
