Read the passage and answer the questions
Boron, a group 13 element :form some useful compounds like Borax, boric acid etc.
On heating, Borax forms a glass like material and when an aqueous solution of borax
is acidified orthoboric acid is formed. Boric acid is also produced when a toxic gas,
diborane is hydrolysed with water. A cyclic compound is formed by reaction of
diborane with Ammonia.
1.
Formulate the species of Boron formed by reaction of Boric acid with water.
2.
Why Boric acid is considered a weak acid?
3.
Draw structure of diborane.
4.
Give the reaction involved in making of glass like material from borax.
5.
Write name and formula of the cyclic compound formed by the reaction of
diborane with Ammonia.
