When current dosen't pass across an ideal voltmeter remove it for sometime.

Joined resistance of both resistors is 4 ohm + 6 ohm = 10 ohm.

Voltage on both resistors is either 6 volts or 18 volts.

Formerly current is 6V/10ohm=0.6A .

0.6 ampere current causes a voltage drop of 3.6V on the larger resistor and 2.4V on the smaller resistor hence voltmeter reading will be 6+2.4 = 12-3.6 = 8.4 volts.

When current is triple then voltage drop is also triple

7.2V on smaller resistor and 10.8V on larger resistor and reading is 7.2-6 = 12-10.8 = 1.2 volts.
