Red soil become acidic due to present of salts formed by alkalis like MgCl2 and FeCl3 when do hydrolysis which means salt and water react to form strong acid. For example MgCl2 + 2H2O = Mg(OH)2+2HCl and HCl is strong acid which makes soil acidic in nature when water is added due to rain then also it becomes infertile.
