Three unidentified people stole 30kg silver and 1.9kg gold jewellery, valued at about Rs46 lakh, and Rs18,000 in cash from Mangaldeep Jewellers in Panvel's Tagore Nagar around 4am on Thursday.
According to the police, three masked accused used the rear entrance to enter the shop. Two employees — Dalchand Kathed, 46, and Prakashchandra Gujjar, 18 — were sleeping inside when they heard a commotion and woke up. One of the robbers threatened the two with a weapon, tied them up and threatened them to remain silent. When the accused left, they managed to free themselves and informed shop owner Roshanlal Kothari about the incident.
