you can find root 2 on number line by taking lines of 1 cm and 1 cm perpendicular to it.then joining the end points we get a hypotenuse of √2 .now we can take the same measure on the line by a compass.
similarly by √2 and 1 we get √3
and by 1 and 2 we get √5
