Answer:

√7 = 2.645

Number line:

                          ------|-1 |-------|0|------|1|------|2|---2.645---|3|------

√7 lies between 2 and 3 on the number line

Explanation:

Root 7's approximate value needs to be found out, so that it can be placed on the number line appropriately.

Nearest perfect root is 4, who's value is 2

and the next perfect root is of 9 who's value is 3.

This tells us that 7 should be somewhere between 2 and 3 on the number line, and the decimal value can be found out by long division method or a calculator and be finally drawn, as it is shown above.

Step-by-step explanation:

      Follow the following steps:

1).  Draw a number line.

2). Draw a perpendicular on 2.

3). Now cut an arc of 1 unit on this perpendicular line and mark it A.Then            join 0 and A. (where 0=zero on line.).

4). Take 0 as center and the other end of compass on A and draw an arc   that meets the  number line at point P. and  here P = √5.

5). Now draw a perpendicular on P and repeat the whole process but this time place the other end of compass on point B, which would be 1 unit on the perpendicular above P. This will give you √6, mark it Q on the number line.

6). Again repeat the whole process to obtain √7,and mark it R on the number line. But remember this time place the other end of compass on point C, which would be 1 unit on the perpendicular above Q.
