Given :-

riya covered 2 km or 10% of the total journey on foot. if she covered 50% of the remaining distance on bike

To Find :-

Distance she covered by car

Solution :-

2 km = 10 %

Let the total be x

10 % of x = 2

10/100 × x = 2

x = 100 × 2/10

x = 200/10

x = 20 km

Now

Journey covered by car = 100 - (50 + 10)

= 40 %

Now

40% covered by car

Let the distance covered by car be c

40% of 20 = c

40/100 × 20 = c

4/1 × 2 = c

8 = c

Question :

riya covered 2 km or 10% of the total journey on foot. if she covered 50% of the remaining distance on bike, and the rest car how much distance(in km) did she cover by car? answer is 9 but how?

Answer :

2 km = 10 %

x km = 50 %

Let the total be x

10 \: \% \: of \: x = 2 \\  \\  \frac{10}{100}  \times x \:  = 2 \\  \\

 \frac{2 \times 100}{10}  \\  \\

x = 20 km

Now

Journey covered by car = 100 - (50 + 10)

100 - 60

40 %

Now

40% covered by car

Let the distance covered by car be y

40 \: \% \: of \: 20 = y \\  \\  \frac{40}{100}  \times 20 = y \\  \\  \frac{4}{1}  \times 2 = y \\ \\  8 = y
