RNA is not a genetic material in bacteria or plant viruses or even Fungi. RNA is basically ribonucleic acid, which is found in all living cells.

The principle role of RNA is to act as a messenger carrying instructions from DNA for controlling the synthesis of proteins, although in some viruses RNA rather than DNA carries the genetic information.
