Diffusion:
In both plants and animals, diffusion is involved in the movement of important molecules into and out of cells.
It is important for the uptake of substances needed by cells, and also the removal of waste products produced by the cells.
Plants absorb water and nutrients from the soil through diffusion. The diffusion of water molecules takes place from soil which is recently watered (high concentration) to the plants that lack water (low concentration).
This is how the mechanism of diffusion works.
Osmosis:
It helps the root system of the plants to absorb water and minerals from the soil.
Helps maintain the turgidity (shape) of the plant cell.
It play a key role in the movement of water and other substances from one cell to another.
Enables the plants to overcome harsh conditions such as drought and frost.
Active Transport:
Active transport is the net movement of particles against a concentration gradient. Energy is therefore required. During active transport, molecules are transported from a low concentration to a high concentration.
