Functions of Nodules:
♦ It converts Nitrogen from the air and make Ammonia which then makes amino acids in the plant.
♦ It makes its own top qualithy organic fertilizer. Improves soils. Very important for food chain.

✔Pea , bean and gram plants (Legumes) have nodules on their roots.
✔It is formed by sequence of multiple interactions between a bacteria named Rhizobium and the root .
✔These Nodules provide shelter to Symbiotic Nitrogen fixing bacteria , Rhizobium which converts the atmospheric nitrogen into Ammonia or nitrogen oxides (Nitrogen Fixation).
✔Thus it makes the nitrogen available to the plant (legumes) in the form of Ammonia.
