Sahil's age is 23 years more than half of Sangram's age. Five years ago, the sum of their ages was 55 years. Find their present ages.

let the age of sahil and sangram be x and y respectively.
Now,
$x = 23 + \frac{y}{2} \\ 2x = 46 + y \\ 2x + y = 46 \: \: \: \: \: ...(1)$
five years ago,
$(x - 5) + (y - 5) = 55 \: \: \: \: \: ...(2) \\ x + y = 65.....(2)$ Multiply 2 with eq.(2),
2x+2y=130
thus,
(1)-(2)
$2x + y = 46 \\ 2x + 2y = 130 \\ ....................... \\ - y = - 84 \\ = > y = 84$

putting y=84
$x = 23 + \frac{y}{2} \\ x = 23 + 42 \\ x = 65$
