Answer:

Vijay alone can complete the same work in 12 days.

Step-by-step explanation:

We have,

(Sanjay + Vijay)’s 1 day’s work = 1/8 ….. (i)

(Vijay + Rajiv)’s 1 day’s work = 1/12 ….. (ii)

(Rajiv + Sanjay)’s 1 day’s work = 1/24 ….. (iii)

Adding equations (i), (ii) & (iii), we get

2 * [ Sanjay + Vijay + Rajiv ]’s 1 day’s work = [ 1/8 + 1/12 + 1/24 ] = 6/24 = ¼

[ Sanjay + Vijay + Rajiv ]’s 1 day’s work = 1/4 * ½ = 1/8 …… (iv)

Now,

Work done by Vijay alone in 1 day

= [( Sanjay + Vijay + Rajiv )’s 1 day’s work] – [(Rajiv + Sanjay)’s 1 day’s work]

= 1/8 – 1/24

= 2/24

= 1/12

Vijay alone can complete the work in 12 days.
