The greenhouse effect is a warming of Earth's surface and the air above it. It is caused by gases in the air that trap energy from the Sun.

this maintains the planet's temperature at a level suitable for the development of life. But when it help happens on large, it can increase the temperature of earth very high that can damage the life-forms on earth.
