When an object moves about in the air, it produces ‘air resistance’. If the surface hitting the air is broad, the air resistance will be more and then the object has to struggle to keep moving. Keeping this in mind scientists done a process called ‘streamlining’ in which the front part of the object is made narrow to reduce the air resistance. Thus, aeroplanes are narrow at the front and broad at the back to gain the least resistance.
