Recently I was part of an interview session on ‘ Impact of Education’ with people from different walks of life
Interviewer: Hello! I thank all of you for being a part of this discussion. Your views will be valued much. This interview has been arranged to get the views from three different sources. All of you are involved in this but in different roles. My first question is – How do you find the current education system in our country?
Teacher : We feel, we are giving the best in terms of education to our children by covering a wide range of subjects and a proper examination system in place. We do our best to ensure children understand and learn too.
Parent : I feel our education system could be more relevant in terms of reality and influence. Children should not be inundated with work both in school and home. They should be more creative and thought provoking in their content.
Councillor : My personal feeling in this is - children are very sharp and intelligent and education should also keep pace with this. Educational system should be such that it boosts the spirit of the children to and provoke their thinking process.
Interviewer : If given a choice, what is it that you would change in our educational system ?
Teacher : The teachers are trained periodically on a state or national level to improve their techniques of teaching and are thus exposed to other systems across the country and could exchange ideas and experience with others in their field.
Parent : I feel, there are lot of educated parents who would want to be part of the system to contribute and improve upon it by volunteering their services. This needs interaction between both teachers , principals and parents. This is also possible during weekends and holidays as most parents are working these days.
Councillor : I appreciate both the inputs and feel this kind of improvement is long overdue and should be put into practice. I also feel the children should be handled well and delicately by being sensitive to their feelings, where education is concerned. I would also add that discipline and caring should go hand in hand.
