The frog in the poem is not a good singer. But he is very proud of his singing and inspite of complaints from others sings loudly every night. When the nightingale comes and sings everyone likes her song. She is truly talented. But she lacks self confidence and self reliance.

The frog fools her by telling her that he is the owner of the place. He says that he will teach her to sing. The nightingale does not know her own capability and thinks that he is doing her a favour by teaching her to sing. She has to face a lot of difficulties as his subordinate and ultimately dies.

If the nightingale was self reliant and knew that she was capable and talented she would have been saved from the deceitful frogs' designs. The same principle is applicable to our lives also. Self reliance is indispensable to win the race of life.
