Dear Student,

Sexual reproduction has the following advantages over asexual reproduction.

Sexual reproduction involves combination of maternal and paternal gametes.

Offspring exhibit diversity of characters.

Meiosis during gametogenesis provides opportunities for new combination of genes. Thus, it plays a prominent role in the origin of new species and leads to variation required for evolution .

In sexual reproduction, a fusion of 2 gametes takes place and this improves the adaptability of the being to survive in an external environment.

In this case, the children inherit the characteristic features of both parents, whereas in asexual reproduction, only a single parent is there and reproduction is done and the same character of the single parent comes inside the offspring.
