Sheikh Ahmad Sirhindi was an Indian Islamic scholar. He was a prominent member of the Naqshbandi Sufi order and a Hanafi jurist. He started the movement of purifying Islam and restored its traditional orthodoxy so he is known as the Mujaddid. His courageous stand against anti-Islam practices brought about a religious renaissance in India.
His reforms can be divided into three categories. They are:
i. Call to Muslims to discard heresy and follow the Sunnah.
ii. Purification of Islamic mysticism from the thoughts and practices that had crept into it through non-Muslim influences.
iii. Emphasis on the Islamic Law.
