- Sita's village faced the fury of Nature that year: it rained cats and dogs for three continuous days.
- The water level rose ominously and caught the villagers unprepared for the calamity.
- Their village got flooded: houses were submerged, crops were ruined and even some of their cattle was washed away by the turbulent waters.
- The villagers took refuge atop the adjoining hill.
- Lack of shelter, food and water made the situation worse for everybody.
- Sita knew that sure death faced them until the outside world came to know of their predicament and sent help.
- She, along with her brother, decided to make the twenty kilometer long journey to the neighbouring town.
- Even though they were hungry and thirsty, the brave duo never rested and reached the town by dawn of the next day.
- They narrated the misfortune that had befallen the villagers and got immediate help from the town municipal organisation.
- Sita's fortitude helped save the villagers from further ruin.
- Her appeals were heard by the state government and relief work was started in their village......
