In the first scene , it opens with the melancholic state of Antonio for Bassanio to go to Belmont for Portia as we saw in the ending line of Scene 2 when Nerissa address Bassanio.
Antonio mood provide the plot for the further story of Merchant of Venice.
In scenes 2 also , Shakespeare introduce important characters in a sad mood to create sympathy for audience.
