silver has two naturally occurring isotopes, one of mass 107amu and other of mass 109amu. Find fraction of abundances for these two isotopes. the atomic mass is 107.8amu.

Let fraction of 107Ag be x.

Therefore fraction of 109Ag is (1-x)

Now taking the weighted average, 107x + 109(1-x)=107.8 (given)

Thus, x=0.6 and (1-x)=0.4
