As you know that...

Pythagoras theorm...

h^2=p^2+b^2---1 【let p is perpendicular b is base and h height of a right angled triangle 】

so,, As you know that .

sinQ=p/h...

and cosQ=b/h.

now from question..
sin^2Q+cos^Q

=>p^2/h^2+b^2/h^2

=>p^2+b^2/h^2

=>h^2/h^=1 【from 1)】
